How did you get here?
As a former undergraduate student leader at Skyline Community College and later as a transfer student at UC Berkeley, I came to appreciate the essential role community plays in navigating college and unlocking transformative academic and professional opportunities. After graduating from Cal and before transitioning into career counseling, I spent four years working in social and supportive services, where I supported individuals and families facing food and housing insecurity. There, I refined my expertise in trauma-informed care and healing-centered engagement, which are central to my counseling practice.
Motivated by my passion to support and uplift higher education students who see their stories reflected in mine, I returned to academia and pursued a graduate program in higher education (HGSE ’24), with a focus on holistic cross-cultural counseling and wellness in both individual and group settings. While at Harvard, I led career development programming tailored for first-generation graduate students in collaboration with the education school’s Career and Alumni Engagement Center. Additionally, I consulted for the Dean of Students Office, where I developed an Insight Spheres program to foster ethical reflection and promote a culture of civil disagreement in undergraduate life. Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply committed to community building and centering the experiences of marginalized students in higher education—particularly first-generation, low-income, disabled, queer, and students of color—and advocating for their diverse needs. My dedication to educational equity, combined with my learning and professional experiences, has prepared me for my role as a career counselor, allowing me to give back to the academic community at Cal that has given so much to me.
