How did you get here?
Coming from a Panamanian immigrant family, I was raised to work hard but I never had a strong interest in one field specifically. I had various life experiences that have guided me to where I am today: I migrated to the U.S from Panama; I learned English at age 8, I attended various grade schools; I attended 4 high schools; I am the first in my family to obtain a college degree, often times, working more than one job at a time to help support my family.
I’ve always valued community and am happiest when I’m supporting others in their journeys. Through my work and personal experiences, I realized I have the gift of being able to and enjoy supporting others, specifically in their careers. I believe my experience is a direct reflection of Planned Happenstance [kind of], in that [with my community] I’ve created opportunities for myself [and others] by staying open, ready, and curious.
What's cool about your job?
I have the honor to serve a diverse student population and being a part of their journey’s.
What's the best career advice anyone has given you?
You don’t need to know everything; you just need to know who to ask.
