College of Letters & Science
How did you get here?
My career path has taken me from corporate accounting in Minneapolis, to teaching business communications and career planning in Tokyo, to providing career counseling at nonprofit organizations in San Francisco, to my job here at Cal. I'm a living example of how a career path can grow and change as you grow and change.
Who do you work with? What's cool about your job?
I work with most students in the College of Letters and Science and specialize in government and nonprofit careers, which is great because my personal interest is in government, policy and the public sector. It's cool and rewarding to help service-oriented students launch their careers because, by shepherding such talented, inspiring and innovating young leaders and public servants into the workforce, I'm participating in creating a positive future for our society.
What's the best career advice anyone has given you?
Actually, it's a well-known quote that works well for career and everything in life: "Don't believe everything you think."
Cats and more cats. Painting, birds, wildlife and wild places, road trips, politics, Mexico!
