Haas School of Business
MBA - joint degree from Henley Management College (now Henley Business School) and Brunel University
How did you get here?
When the “dot com” bubble burst the only growth industry was career transition/outplacement so I joined the largest outplacement company in the world - Right Management. My role in the real world was the one portrayed by George Clooney in “Up in the Air.” Having worked in industry, taught in several universities and business schools, and discovered an aptitude for teaching and counseling, it was a natural step to help launch business students on their own careers.
What's cool about your job?
Working with students that represent such huge potential - helping them define it and take their first steps towards realizing it. Plus I'm paid to be nosy - to dig and find the true value students bring to the table.
What's the best career advice anyone has given you?
I view life as a voyage of discovery about myself and the universe around me and I encourage everyone to pursue their own journey of development too. I have a passion and aptitude for developing communicating power in my clients and students - executives, entrepreneurs or engineers, pitching for funding, chasing new business or seeking a new role. Outside work I enjoy hiking, preferably steep and high like Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua. Less extreme and more accessible hikes include Mount Diablo and Mission Peak.
