How did you get here?

When I graduated from college, I had plans to seek out a Master’s degree in Counseling because I have always had a passion to help people, more specifically, students. However, I graduated right before the pandemic started, and well, that shifted a lot of my plans. I felt a little lost and discouraged, but I continued to work amidst all the uncertainty. In the last year and a half, I was able to work at a private school that served middle and high school students. It was such a joy to see their growth and their excitement for the future. I then decided I wanted to work with older students and the opportunity to work at Berkeley Career Engagement fell into my lap. I am excited to work with college students and support them in any way that I can.

Who do you work with? What’s cool about your job?
I work with Berkeley Career Engagement staff and I get to interact with the students. One cool thing about my job is that I get to be a part of the students’ journeys. Even if it’s as simple as answering a quick question, it’s a rewarding experience to support them as they work towards their goals.

What’s the best career advice anyone has given you?
If there is an opportunity that you want and you think you don’t have a chance, just remember this: You’re already at no, so what do you have to lose? Don’t be afraid to seek out the opportunities you want. You’ll never know if you don’t try and the outcome may surprise you.
