I’m a May `19 grad; how do I access Alumni Services?

Your access to Handshake and any pre-existing Letter Service account has already been extended.

We strongly recommend that you secure your xxx@berkeley.edu email address.  To register it, go to the Cal Alumni Network (you have nine months following graduation to do so). After registering, you will be able to continue to use the CalNet option to login to Handshake and the Letter Service.

I fall within the five-year grace period, but am not a May `19 grad; how do I access Alumni Services?

Please complete the Alumni Services Request Form, and allow for 2-3 business days for processing. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email notifying you that your account has been “edited” and inviting you to “view your profile here”. Once you click on the link, you will be taken to the Handshake Login page.

  1. Click on the link that reads "You can also sign in with your email address" that appears below the blue box with the CalNet login link.
  2. If you have not yet established a “Handshake” password (or have forgotten it), click on the “Forgot your Password?” link.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your Handshake account and follow the instructions.

How do I login if my CalNet is no longer active?

You can still login to Career Center services by following the instructions below:

Handshake

  1. On the Handshake Login page, click on the link that reads "You can also sign in with your email address" that appears below the blue box with the CalNet login link.
  2. If you have not yet established a “Handshake” password (or have forgotten it), click on the “Forgot your Password?” link.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your Handshake account and follow the instructions.

Letter Service

  1. Go to the Letter Service Alumni Login page.
  2. Select "Forgot Your Password" and follow the instructions.

How long will I have access to Alumni Services?

After the first year, you have continued access until five years have passed since your graduation (though eligibility for counseling expires after the first twelve months).

Alumni Handshake accounts are archived twice a year (December and June), and if you have not logged in at least once during the prior six months, your account will be archived.

Once that occurs, to regain access, please complete the Alumni Services Request Form, and allow for 2-3 business days for processing.

Can I still login to my Letter Service account after I’ve graduated or if I’m not registered?

Anyone with an existing, online Letter Service account can login, view your letters, have new ones posted, and make requests through March 15, 2020.

After the upcoming summer/fall application cycle, however, the Career Center will be Sunsetting the Letter Service and to retain access to your letters, you will have to arrange to transfer them to Interfolio or a similar dossier service.

Login using the Alumni login page. Enter your email address and password. You can also set or reset your password by selecting the "Forgot Your Password?" link and follow the instructions.

What if I graduated more than five years ago?

You are no longer eligible. The majority of employers utilizing the Career Center through Career Fairs and/or jobs posted in Handshake’s job listings are oriented towards current students and recent alumni. Therefore, we no longer offer alumni services to those who have graduated more than five years ago.

Am I eligible for services if I’m already a member of the California Alumni Association (CAA)?

The career-related services provided by the California Alumni Association are separate from those offered by the Career Center.

CAA membership does not provide access to the Career Center after you have graduated.

To determine if you are currently eligible as an alum for Career Center services, please consult the information on our Alumni Services page.
