What Can I Do With a Major In...?Survey Data CollectionThe Career Center at the University of California Berkeley conducts an annual survey of the initial postgraduate activities of its senior undergraduates. For the 2007 survey all Bachelor’s degree recipients from Summer 2006, Fall 2006, and Spring 2007 were surveyed. The overall response rate for 2007 was 45.7%. Beginning with the 2006 survey year, students with double and triple majors are represented in each of their majors, whereas in prior years their data were only presented in their primary major. Programs for which there are four or less responses will not have any data shown to protect the confidentiality of respondents. Activity SummaryPostgraduate activities are summarized in four categories: Employed, Attending Graduate/Professional School, Seeking Employment, and Other Endeavors. The Other Endeavors category includes those graduates who indicated that their employment plans would involve 1) being self-employed full-time, 2) any part-time employment, 3) accepting an internship or volunteer position (paid or unpaid), 4) joining the armed forces, 5) taking a year off, 6) not seeking employment and 7) those who categorized their plans as "Other." SalariesNot every survey respondent reports salary. Average salary figures for 2007 are based only on reported salaries. Any year that had less than four salaries reported will have no salary data reported to protect the confidentiality of student data. Back to What Can I Do With a Major In...? home |
