February 11 - February 21

The Career Center's (special extended) Spring 2008 "Internship Week" is scheduled for February 11 - February 21. The week will consist of general internship workshops and customized panels for students and alumni regarding internships in specific career fields.

Register for a program or workshop by following these steps:
**Registration will be available ON OR AFTER February 1, 2008

  1. Log in to CalJobs at https://berkeley-csm.symplicity.com/students/ (Login Problems? Only current Cal students and Alumni Advantage members are eligible to access CalJobs. If you receive an "incorrect username or password" message, click on the ? Help link at the top of the CalJobs login screen).
  2. From the menu at the top of the screen, click on "Programs, Workshops & Employer Info. Sessions"
  3. The screen that opens defaults to a list of Employer Info. Sessions.  To find your workshop or program, click on the tab that says "Career Center Programs & Workshops".
  4. You will see a list of programs and workshops in order by date.  Look for the program by date, or look carefully at the names of the programs to find the one you are searching for.
  5. When you find the program or workshop you are looking for, click on "RSVP for this event" in the right-hand column.  OR, click on the name of the program to read more details.  Then select "RSVP for this event" at the bottom of the program description.

Diversity Internship Panel

Description: This panel will provide you with information on great internship opportunities offered by employers that celebrate and embrace diversity of all kinds. Get the scoop on how to match your diversity values and needs to an organization. You will learn about internship opportunities in business, engineering, computer science, marketing, advertising, media and public service.

Moderator: Sharron O'Connor, Career Counselor
Panelists from the following organizations:
  • INROADS (Listed in Vault Industry Guides Top Ten Internships): Provides recruiting opportunities, multi-year summer internships, year-round coaching, and training activities for students of color.
  • Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program: The largest Hispanic internship program in the nation helping students make the “connection” to the working world.
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Exceed Program: This program offers African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native American students the opportunity to participate in an internship between sophomore and junior year of college. Also included is a $3,000 scholarship and participation in PwC's annual Diversity in Business Leadership Conference.
  • Department of Transportation: The 2008 Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups (STIPDG) is for students in all majors. Funded by the FHWA's Office of Civil Rights' On-the-Job Training Supportive Services Program, the objective of the STIPDG is to provide college/university students with hands-on experience and on-the- job training while working on current transportation-related topics and issues. Specially designed to provide qualified women, persons with disabilities, and members of diverse groups with summer opportunities in transportation where these groups have been under represented.
  • Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA): A national program that prepares young adults for an advanced degree and ultimately for careers and influential roles serving the public good. PPIA has an outreach focus on students from groups who are underrepresented in leadership positions in government, nonprofits, international organizations and other institutional settings.

Getting Started in Education Internship Panel
