Association of American Schools in South America (AASSA)

Positions for credentialed K-12 teachers in South America. The Association sponsors an annual recruiting fair in the States.

Dave's ESL Cafe

Contains teaching job listings worldwide and discussion forums by country.

English Language Teaching Job Center

Lists jobs for English language teachers, administrators and consultants throughout the world.

European Council of International Schools (ECIS)

Teaching and administrative jobs offered at independent schools throughout Europe. All candidates are required to have current teaching certification/qualification.

French Ministry of Education Teaching Assistantships

The French Ministry of Education offers 1000-1500 paid positions for Americans to teach 6-9 months in primary and secondary schools and Instituts universitaires de formation des maîtres in all parts of France and the DOM-TOM. Students without a major or minor in French but with a basic proficiency in French can also apply. Deadline to apply: December for the following Fall.

International House

Headquartered in the UK, offers teacher training courses/programs and lists teaching vacancies at language schools worldwide that is part of the International House World Organisation (IHWO). There are currently over 120 schools in more than 40 countries.

International Schools Services (ISS)

One of the largest K-12 education recruiters for American schools overseas ($150 non-refundable application fee)

Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program

The Japanese government offers university graduates the chance to spend a year or more living and working in Japan while team-teaching in Japanese public schools as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or assisting local governments as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs). Deadline to apply: December for the following Fall.

North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain

The Ministry of Education and Science of Spain, with agreement with the Autonomous Regions, have teaching assistant positions for North Americans to assist in elementary or secondary schools in Spain. Need to have at least an intermediate level of Spanish. Deadline to apply: April for the following academic year.

Best Bets for Working Abroad (UC Irvine's International Education Center)

Lists short-term opportunities for students as well as long-term positions for experienced individuals, interational job-related websites and job-related listservers in over 100 countries.

BUNAC: Work in Britain

The British Universities North America Club (BUNAC) aids US students and recent graduates with procuring work permits in Britain (England, Scotland, or Wales) for up to 6 months. Participants locate their own jobs, primarily in the service industry.

CIEE: Council Work Abroad Program

Offers work permits for short-term work abroad, study abroad, voluntary services, and discounted student plane fares. Participants locate their own jobs. Program resources available.

InterExchange

InterExchange offers a variety of programs (summer and year-long) for both US and non-US citizens. Work programs (including some teaching opportunities) are available in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland.

Internships

Association for International Practical Training (AIPT)

Provides cross-cultural, on-the-job training exchanges. If you are majoring in engineering, computer science, mathematics, natural/physical sciences, or architecture, contact the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE). You must have completed your sophomore year and be enrolled full-time at an accredited US college or university at the time of application. Student Exchanges Program for liberal arts majors also available.

Association Internationale des Etudiants Sciences Economiques (AIESEC)

The campus hosts an active chapter of this nonprofit, student-run organization that offers a work/exchange program. Over 5,000 students from 87 countries participated in full-time, paid business internships (lasting 2-18 months) last year.

Brethren Colleges Abroad

Business, teaching, political science, and social work internship opportunities in Europe, Asia and South America.

CDS International

Umbrella organization offers training internships in Germany ranging from 3 to 18 months in business, engineering and technical fields. Proficiency in German language and US citizenship required.

Center for International Career Development (CICD)

This nonprofit organization provides J-1 visa sponsorship for international students who have at least 2 years of study or practical experience in a given subject field plus foreign language abilities and have secured their own US internship or also tries to place international students.

Internships International

Worldwide Internships and Service Education (WISE) (email for further info)

WISE offers 3-6 month internships with stipends in London in many fields - the arts, business, industry, government agencies, marketing and travel. Also, a 6-week summer program is available.

International Volunteer Program (IVP)

Provides students the opportunity to do volunteer internships in France or the UK with tourism offices, summer camps, hospitals, environmental projects and local city governments. Room and board provided during work period.

International Volunteer Programs Association

An alliance of nonprofit, non-governmental organizations based in the Americas that are involved in international volunteer and internship exchanges. You can search their database of volunteer programs by region, country, type of service and duration of project.

Matches individuals with volunteer internships (some of which are international) based in the US. Click on "international" under career categories when you search for opportunities.
