Employer Services - Demystifying Berkeley Majors
UC Berkeley is known for its diversity, and that extends to the variety of
academic programs offered. This section is intended to help you determine which
UC Berkeley majors might be appropriate "fits" for your organization and offers
general recommendations for maximizing student response to your job listings if you choose to screen candidates by major.
Careful selection of majors will provide the most comprehensive pool of candidates
for you to consider for your job opportunities. We encourage you to expand
your choices of majors in order to ensure a good applicant pool for prescreening.
- For non-technical positions (e.g., Sales/Marketing, Retail, Management,
etc.), always keep your requirements open. For example, limiting your requirements
to BusAd majors only for these types of positions will probably result in
a low student response.
- For technical positions and other highly competitive fields, consider
cross-disciplinary majors.
