Off-Campus Employers

How to List a Job/Internship

1.  Go to https://berkeley.joinhandshake.com/login to create a user profile.  For help getting started, visit Handshake's support.  Once you have signed up, you will receive an email to verify your information.

2.  Click on the link in the email to finish the registration process.  After you have finished creating a company profile or joining an existing company, your account will be approved within 2-3 business days.

3.  Once your account/profile has been approved, you will be able to log in to Handshake and post a job.  View Handshake's How do I post a Job? article for more information.

UC Berkeley Employers

How to List a Job/Internship

Campus departments are encouraged to post all student employment positions on Handshake as well as any other campus positions appropiate for new or recent graduates.  All work study positions must also be posted on the Work Study site.

1.  Go to https://berkeley.joinhandshake.com/login to create a user profile.  For help getting started, visit Handshake's support.  Once you have signed up, you will receive an email to verify your information.

2.  Click on the link in the email to finish to registration process.

Important Tip: Search for your department In the company name field.  If your department doesn't have an existing account, create an employer account by prefacing your campus department with UC Berkeley and including your division name, e.g., UC Berkeley College of Chemistry Health & Safety Program.

After you have finished creating a "company" profile or joining an existing campus department, your account will be approved within 2-3 business days.

Household Employers

How to List a Job

Many community members use Handshake to post tutoring, childcare/eldercare, manual labor and other household type positions.

1.  Go to https://berkeley.joinhandshake.com/login to create a user profile.  Click on Sign up for an Account.  You will be prompted to use a "company" email, but you can go ahead and sign up with a gmail, yahoo, or other  3rd party email.  For help getting started, visit Handshake's support.  Once you have signed up, you will receive an email to verify your information.

2.  Click on the link in the email to finish to registration process.

Important Tips:

  • In the company name field, enter your full name or your last name and Family or Household, e.g., Smith Household;
  • In the web site field, enter https://career.berkeley.edu/Parttime/LookingForParttimeWork
  • In the description field, enter a description of who you are, e.g., individual or household/family.  Do not enter the job here.  You will have a chance to do that once your account has been approved.

After you have finished creating a "company" profile, your account will be approved within 2-3 business days.
