About RSS

What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." It's a format that provides an easy way to monitor fresh content. Websites and blogs use it to send updated information to you via services like MyYahoo!, Bloglines, Google, and others. These services gather the content you select from a variety of sources and display it for you in one convenient location. That way you don't have to repeatedly check a site yourself for updates. For example, when new information appears on the Career Center Calendar, our corresponding RSS feeds are updated and your RSS reader alerts you of the new content.

To find out if a site offers RSS feeds, look for the XML button XML button, or search the site for "RSS".

How can I use RSS feeds?

First you'll need an RSS reader which can alert you to new content as it is updated. Here are some popular RSS Readers:

Once you have an RSS reader installed, to get our Calendar events choose one of the feeds above, copy the shortcut on the XML button (right-click) and paste it into your chosen reader application. NOTE: If you are using MyYahoo!, Bloglines, or Google, simply click on the corresponding button and you'll be taken to the appropriate place on their site.
