He is majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and will graduate in December 2006. His interests include toxicology, specifically how man made or natural toxins affect the environment at the cellular level. He is also a strong advocate for environmental conservation and an ardent student of history. After graduation Alan hopes to work for in ecobiological research before eventually returning to graduate school to pursue a Ph.D in ecological toxicology.![]() Alex MadridAlex Madrid is originally from the Philippines, and he came to the Bay Area in 1996. He is currently a senior at UC Berkeley and is majoring in the Interdisciplinary Studies Field with an emphasis on International Corporate Management. He is an active member of Sigma Nu fraternity and is currently in his fourth year working in the Office of the President as the Disabled Students Program student liaison.![]() Anh NguyenAnh is an East Coast transplant, who recently graduated from UC Berkeley with an MA in City and Regional Planning. His core interests in City Planning include Universal Design, Transportation, and GIS. He hopes to pursue a career in international consulting in the area of City Planning. His hobbies include photography, cooking, and world travel.![]() Anthony ManzellaA Bay Area native, Anthony is majoring in Mass Communications at Berkeley. His future career goal is to work in the broadcast journalism field, preferably in radio or television sports journalism. As preparation for the field, Anthony is currently interning as a reporter with KALX. His interests include sports, music and movies.![]() Brian Larson (HIRED)Brian is a Cal Alum with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Public Policy. He is interested in the government and non-profit sectors, and would like to utilize his problem-solving and written communication skills to address social issues. Brian enjoys going to concerts and traveling to the various national and state parks in California.![]() Christopher BurrellA Bay Area native, Christopher earned a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology in 2003. Christopher has volunteered/interned with the Tang Center at UC Berkeley, Alta Bates Hospital and currently with Kaiser Permanente. He is passionate about health care and biotechnology, and is interested in pursuing these fields as well as related sales positions. His interests include photography, food, wine and sports.![]() Christopher CarrChris is originally from San Diego, and he is majoring in History with a minor in English. His career goal is to work in television and radio as a sports broadcast journalist. He has two years of experience working in radio at the UC Berkeley campus radio station KALX. His hobbies include sports, including participating in wheelchair soccer, basketball and rugby.![]() Christopher Kim (HIRED)Christopher majored in Applied Mathematics, graduating in December 2005. He is interested in becoming an actuary, and in utilizing his mathematical skills as fully as possible. Christopher has excellent analytical skills, and loves traveling. He also enjoys tennis.![]() Christopher Skok (HIRED)Christopher is a Fall 2006 graduate with a double major in Chemistry and French and a minor in Linguistics. Christopher has extensive research experience in how different societies utilize online communication to disseminate information. Christopher is also passionate about improving international disability awareness and accessibility. His interests include foreign languages and international travel.![]() Derek DabkoskiDerek was born in Oakland and raised in San Francisco until the age of eighteen, when he began his studies at UC Berkeley. He completed his undergraduate requirements there, and then transferred to NYU to study Film and Television Production. He returned home in the summer of 2006 to film his thesis project, and will receive his degree from NYU in the spring of 2008. Since his injury, his main focus has turned to writing and directing. He hopes to pursue a career in feature film writing and directing.![]() Drew GonzalezDrew is originally from Burbank. He is a Public Health major who wants to eventually work in a counseling, medical or dental setting. Drew served in the US Navy for six years as a dental technician and traveled to China, Australia, Hawaii and the Middle East. He enjoys running, traveling, meeting new people, and working as part of a team.![]() Elijah MekwunyeElijah graduated from U.C. Berkeley in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science - an interdisciplinary field containing Computer Science, Psychology and Linguistics. In the spring of 2007, Elijah obtained his Master of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University, Hayward. While in graduate school, Elijah interned with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, U.S. Department of Labor, and Defense Contract Management Agency as an Information Management Assistant, Information Technology Specialist, and as a Management Analyst, respectively. His skills and interests include software applications development, Content Management Systems (CMS) development, Human Computer Interaction and Database development, and website development. Elijah also enjoys soccer, sight-seeing, and renovating buildings for commercial purposes. As a Songwriter/Singer, Elijah released two CD musical recordings: “Let Me Sanctify You” (2002) and “A Capable Woman” (2007). Elijah also mentored countless numbers of disabled students while at UC Berkeley and California State University, Hayward.![]() Galen TravisGalen is a native of the Bay Area whose aspires to become a graphic artist or animator. He is currently pursuing dual degrees in Art Practice and Mass Communications at Berkeley. Galen’s hobbies include music, literature and art.![]() James Edwards (HIRED)James Edwards graduated from UC Berkeley in December 2005 with a major is psychology. His future goal is to become a clinical psychologist. One of his main passions is working with young people to help them improve their lives. James also enjoys reading, cooking and going to the gym.![]() Jesse BraciscoJesse is from Middletown, California and majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies Field, Sports Management. He is interested pursuing a career in football, whether coaching, scouting or managing. He is currently studying under the Cal football team by going to meetings and practices.![]() Jessica SchleyJessica is a current Cal student, expecting to graduate in 2010 with two degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and Land Conservation. She hopes to find an internship (short or long term) in a) a law firm that deals with land conservation, b) a land trust organization, or c) a political journal that reports on issues such as agricultural preserve legislation or the Williamson Act. She is originally from Santa Barbara, CA and grew up on a cattle ranch. She would like to start her own Land Trust organization someday, to help farmers and ranchers conserve their open space for future generations.![]() Jian HongOriginally from China, Jian grew up in Los Angeles, moving to the Bay Area in 2004 to attend Cal. Jian is majoring in English, and passionate about Creative Writing. He also works with adults who dropped out of high school in re-entering the school system and completing their education. Jian mentors UC Berkeley Transfer students and is engaged in outreach programs for Community College students.![]() Jonathan BradshawJonathan is from Watseka, Illinois. He is majoring in Linguistics and his career goal is to be a journalist. He has traveled to Mexico, Cuba, and Canada, and hopes to visit Australia, Brazil and Europe someday. His interests include travel, photography, art, literature and Mexican culture. Jonathan speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys the Daily Show.![]() Julie Morfee (HIRED)Julie recently graduated with her PhD in Comparative Literature. With 4 years of teaching experience - and awarded Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor from the Comparative Literature Department - Julie is seeking a full-time faculty position teaching Literature and Composition in higher education. Julie loves writing and attending cultural events in her spare time.![]() Kara LangKara is currently in the process of becoming certified as a paralegal with an emphasis in intellectual property law. Kara has a PhD in Nutritional Biology and has extensive experience with scientific writing and clinical research. Kara would like to use her scientific background and specialize in patent law for biotechnology, metabolics, and genomics.![]() Kenyon HallKenyon is a Los Angeles native who graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in History and Rhetoric. He has worked for large to mid-size performing arts organizations in the Bay Area in the areas of advertising, public relations, marketing and development. In the marketing realm, Kenyon also has experience marketing professional sports packages. He is a fully certified tennis professional and coach, and his interests include the performing arts, politics and tennis.![]() Kyle PabloKyle is originally from Falls Church, Virgina. He is majoring in the Interdisciplinary Studies Field with a concentration in Information Technology. During summer internships with the Town of Islip Planning Department in New York, Kyle developed a website for the department which included a search interface for building department applications. His interests are primarily in the IT sector, maintaining the technical infrastructure for a company.![]() Lateef McleodLateef graduated from Cal with BA in English and has since obtained his MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. He is already a published poet and he is seeking to put his creative skills to work as a Junior Technical Writer.![]() Linda WeingartenLinda Weingarten is originally from New York, she graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Integrative Biology. Her interests include the medical and environmental perspective on human/environmental interactions and their effect on global health. In her spare time she enjoys reading medical journals and mysteries.![]() Maylene LeeMaylene graduated from U.C Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her passions lie in environmental preservation, with the development of green energy technologies, and in improving health and quality of life with the help of medical technologies. She is eager to gain experience as an engineer and to contribute to the betterment of society.![]() Melanie MillerMelanie graduated from Cal with a double major in Anthropology and Psychology, earning highest honors in Anthropology. She has been conducting research for two years using analytical chemistry techniques such as stable isotope and trace element analysis to study modern and archaeological materials. Melanie would like to continue to do research or apply her love of problem solving to another field before returning to school for a PhD in Biological Anthropology. She loves music and traveling, and wishes she had a dog.![]() Michael HarrisMichael lived in several states before landing in California. As an undergraduate he majored in physics and psychology, and he continues to have a strong interest in both, and hopes to incorporate both disciplines through the study of cognitive science. Michael aspires to conduct research into cognition and how it relates to brain function. In his spare time, he enjoys reading whatever articles he can find on the topic of consciousness, as well as any good novels that he comes across.![]() Michael (Sin Ching) IpMichael (Sin Ching) Ip is originally from Hong Kong, but was raised in Oakland. He graduated from UC Berkeley in May 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies and a minor in City and Regional Planning. He has a passion for public transportation and would ideally like to work in a public transit agency. Michael is also fluent in Cantonese and has conversational proficiency in Mandarin. His hobbies include traveling and suggesting more efficient ways to improve public transportation.![]() Pericles SakellariouPeri is a senior studying mechanical engineering and materials science. He would like to become a professor of engineering someday and would like to help underrepresented students who are pursuing studies in engineering. He is interested in automotive racing and public health.![]() Reinhard CleverReinhard is originally from Germany, and he came to the US on a Fulbright Scholarship. He received his MBA from the University of Miami, and afterwards worked in the marketing side of the air cargo industry. Later he received his PhD in Transportation Engineering.![]() Sarah GlaubmanOriginally from Boston, Sarah majored in History, graduating in May 2004. She is interested in political and social issues, and recently completed an internship with Verified Voting, an organization working on the integrity of the electoral system. She is interested in working within the nonprofit sector using her writing skills which she has been honing with courses at Media Alliance. Sarah loves food and cooking, creating visual art and also music (especially opera).![]() Shira LeederA Bay Area Native, Shira is majoring in American Studies with an emphasis in Disability Studies and is expected to graduate from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May 2008. Shira interned with the Disability Rights section of the Department of Justice in Washington D.C., working with top investigators on ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) cases. Shira is deeply committed to Disability Rights in America and abroad, and would like to continue her advocacy work in some capacity. Shira’s other interests include social work, international development, participating in sports and social justice causes, traveling, music, and scrapbooking.![]() Shoreh NooriShoreh is originally from Iran and immigrated to the US eight years ago. She is majoring in Nutritional Science-Physiology. Her future career goal is to attend pharmacy school or graduate school for nutritional science. Her hobbies include movies, bicycling and reading Persian poetry.![]() Tam LaTam was born in Vietnam and moved to California when he was 9 years old. He is currently pursuing an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science degree at Berkeley and will graduate in December 2008. His goal is to secure a challenging position in the field of computer science, preferably concentrating on software development, information technology or transportation design. His interests include interior design, cooking and swimming.![]() Thu PhanThu is originally from Vietnam and resides in Stockton. At UC Berkeley, she is pursuing a degree in Sociology, with a minor in Disability Studies. She recently finished a summer internship with the Department of Transportation in Washington, DC, where she worked at the Office of Civil Rights. She worked on a project involving surface transportation infrastructure with the goal to improve bus and subway accessibility for people who use mobility aids, especially wheelchair users. As such, her long range career goal is to empower people with disabilities. She hopes to further pursue this goal by obtaining a position with the Federal government to enforce disability rights issues. In her spare time, Thu enjoys spending quality time with friends and she’s loves to travel. She also enjoys a good book.![]() Winnie ChengWing-Yee (Winnie) Cheng is majoring in Education and Disability. Originally from Orange County by way of Hong Kong, Winnie is passionate about child development and disability rights. Winnie is interested in teaching special education within the elementary school system. Winnie has previously worked as an advocate for people with disabilities, a job she most enjoyed.
