45-Minute Appointments - Frequently Asked Questions
I need to change my appointment. How do I reschedule?
To reschedule, first cancel your existing appointment by selecting "Upcoming Scheduled Appointments" on the Appointments Menu and
then proceed to "Make an Appointment."
Can I schedule a same-day appointment? No, the system does not allow you to make a same-day 45-minute appointment. However, if you want to see someone quickly, you have two options:
I accidentally cancelled my appointment; how do I get it back? When you cancelled the appointment, it was made available to anyone logged in to the system. Select "Make an Appointment," re-enter your information, and if no one else has taken the slot, simply select it again. Can I schedule a phone appointment online? (I'm not in the area, but need to talk to a counselor.) Yes, you can. Simply make an appointment in the normal fashion except be sure to type "phone appointment" in the Comment box so the counselor knows to expect your call. I have a class that ends right at the time my appointment begins. Can I be a few minutes late? If you expect to be late, let your counselor know in advance by noting it in the Comment box. If you only realize the conflict after you've made the appointment, you can call the Front Desk (510) 642-1716 ext. 6 (M-F 9:00-5:00) and ask them to enter this information. Note: appointments extend 45 minutes from the scheduled start time and cannot be extended. No appointments are available or they're weeks away. What should I do? You have three options:
Can I schedule an appointment with a counselor that I've seen before? Yes. Select "Make an Appointment," fill in the required fields, and select "Continue." If the name of the counselor you saw before does not appear, select "View Previous Appointments" (near the bottom of the page) to see a list of your previous sessions. Select the name of the counselor, and you will see a list of her/his available slots. Otherwise, you can call the Front Desk during our regular business hours, (M-F 9:00-5:00). Can I make an appointment with a specific counselor? Not online, unless you have already had an appointment with that particular counselor. If you are not satisfied with the choices offered by the system, you may call or visit the Front Desk at (510) 642-1716 ext. 6 (M-F 9:00-5:00) to ask about other appointment options. Who is the best counselor to see for my major? Each of our counselors specializes in particular career fields and majors, and the system is designed to match you with the most appropriate counselor based on the Appointment Reason and Career Field you select as well as your official major as recorded in Bear Facts. Can I make more than one appointment? Because of heavy demand, you are allowed to have only one future appointment at a time. How do I schedule an assessment test and an appointment to review the results? Because assessment tests either require you to take the assessment beforehand (in the case of the Strong Interest Inventory) or require prior preparation on the part of the counselor (SkillScan or Career Values), you cannot schedule these appointments online. For the Strong Interest Inventory:
For SkillScan or Career Values:
I tried to schedule an appointment but the system timed me out. Did my appointment get scheduled? Please log back in and click on "Upcoming Scheduled Appointments" to see if your appointment request was completed. If not, go to "Make an Appointment" and try again without pausing to avoid timing-out. I selected an appointment slot and clicked on the "Make Appointment" button, and received a message stating that this appointment is no longer available. What happened? Others may have been viewing the same appointment slot, and scheduled it before you clicked the "Make Appointment" button. Please try again. I can't seem to make an appointment on my computer. What should I do? Try another computer on campus or in your dorm. If you still experience difficulties, you can make an appointment by calling or visiting the Front Desk at (510) 642-1716 ext. 6 (M-F 9:00-5:00). Back to 45-Minute Appointments Home |
